Essay writing on ‘rural Bharat’

Monday, September 08, 2008, Mumbai : The Ekal Sansthan and the Friends of Tribals Society have organised an essay writing competition on ‘Education for Empowerment of Tribal and Rural Bharat’. The participants can write in English, Hindi or Marathi. The first prize is Rs25,000, second Rs15,000 and third Rs10,000. The last date for receiving the entries by email or post is September 25. Entries may be sent to Friends of Tribals Society, 8th floor, B wing, Ship Building, Pandurang Budhkar Marg or email to mumbaiseminar @ekalsansthan.org. For details visit www. ekalsansthan.org.
 
The Ekal Vidyalaya movement headed by Essel Group chairman Subash Chandra provides free education to over eight lakh tribal children across 26,000 villages in remote parts of the country. The aim is to eradicate illiteracy from tribal India by the year 2011.
