General JJ Singh visited the National Gurdwara of Washington DC, on October 5, 2008 while promoting a cause for Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation. This was in collaboration with the Center of Health Information and Decision System, where General JJ Singh was a keynote speaker. General Singh had served in Jammu & Kashmir, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Joshimath and many other places in responsible capacities. He was awarded Vashisht Seva medal. He was the youngest person in the first batch of Army School. He is a renaissance man who has held different positions during his lengthy career. Although he is from the family of army veterans, at the National Gurdwara, we found him to be a profound humanitarian. His love toward the service to humanity is embedded in his blood, for which he was recognized as earlier stated. Because of his unique perseverant qualities and abilities to deal with the socio-economic problems, he was appointed as Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. He and Mrs. Singh expressed their pleasure of being at the Gurdwara Sahib, and articulated the self-less service of the Great Guru's. His message was to follow the path suggested in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. General and Mrs. Singh were honored with the siropa at the Gurdwara Sahib.
